If you want to see old school photos taken at Port Kembla Public then visit:
http://www.schoolfriends.com.au
You will have to register and come up with a password to enter the site.
Then just do a search for Port Kembla Public School or any other school of that area.

Hi Len
I went to Port Kembla public school for about four months until we left the hostel and moved to Mangerton. My memories are mixed. I discovered racsism towards the Indigenous Australians. In spite of this, most memories are good. Especially of the Hostel lunches and the STACK. Do you remember Gillian Brown and Sue Tasker? Both befriended me when I arrived at the hostel on my 10th birthday (5/8/1968).
Please reply
Sue |

Hi Sue.
Yes, I remember Gillian Brown and Susan Taster. They were good friends of mine. We spent many hours playing with Gillians sisters record player. I think Gillian lived at the far end of C block facing B block.
If I remember correctly? the record player had a single deck and was housed in a small cream wooden box it had a built-in speaker and a lift up lid.
I believe Gillians family moved back to the uk Birmingham shortly before our family left the hostel 1969.
I have actually mentioned Gillian and Susan in this thread ages ago.
